MRS. DOROTHY L. HAIRSTON
Mrs. Dorothy L Hairston 90 of Douglasville, GA formerly of Omar Answered the Master's Call on Thursday July 24, 2014. Born January 18, 1924 in Carthage, NC a daughter of the late Lonnie and Minnie McAuthor Alston in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John H Hairston Sr., 3 sons John "Chip" Jr, Freddie and Gregory Hairston 3 sisters Mrs. Eva Mae Ryan, Mrs. Shirley Dark and Mrs. Daisy Person and 1 brother Mr. Floyd "Mack" McAuthor. Mrs. Dot was a Faithful member of the Marvelous Light Christian Ministries in Lithia Springs GA where she served as Mother of the Mission Her Favorite scripture was Psalms 23. Survivors left to cherish her memory include her children Mrs. Shirley Hairston-Gordon(The late Dunbar), Rodney (Judy) Hairston of Omar, WV, Regina Hairston Of Charleston, WV, Kenneth, Donald (Ida), Jeff (Carla) Chris (Toni), and Joey (Nancy) Hairston , Dr. Debra (Greg) Hurley all of Douglasville, GA, and David (Laila) Mollett of Columbia, SC 34 Grandchildren 64 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great-Grandchildren and a Host of Nieces, Nephews and other Relatives. Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, August 01, 2014 at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. T.J. Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Sons and Grandsons. Collins Funeral Home of Switzer is in charge of the arrangements. William Joseph Thern
William Joseph “Smokey” Thern, 82 of Chauncey, departed this life Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Hubbard House in Charleston. He was born December 03, 1931 at Pine Creek, WV to the late Specks and Molly (Minor) Thern. . Smokey was a coal miner for forty-four years and had been a member of the Sarah Ann Church of God for forty-two years, he loved the Lord enjoyed singing and praising him. He was also a huge Cincinnati Reds fan that not only enjoyed the sport but loved to coach baseball. Also preceding him in death are his wife; Haley (Newsome) Thern, one brother; John Thern and one sister; Yettabe Phillips. Those left to cherish his memories are two daughters; Lura (Bryan) Cremeans of Huntington, and Theresa (Jessie) Queen of Mt. Gay, one brother; Jimmy (Kate) Thern of Michigan, four grandchildren; Jessie (Paula) Queen II of Logan, Kevin Queen of Cross Lanes, Michelle Cremeans, and Erin Cremeans both of Huntington and one step great-granddaughter Callista Raniser. He also had some very special best friends Reather and Twilla Gillman, Haley and “Na Na” Gillman, Misty Brewster, and Pheba and Raymond Koon. Services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer with Pastor Gary Starr officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 PM Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Family and Friends. Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
