Alec MacKenzie Lee Griffin

July 20, 1999 — May 18, 2020

Alec MacKenzie Lee Griffin was born in Logan on July 20, 1999, and passed away on Monday, May 18th (at 20 years-of-age) as the result of injuries sustained in a tragic four-wheeler accident in Logan.

Alec was a talented, creative individual who had a passion for music and an enthusiasm for playing guitar. He had a wonderful wit and sense of humor, a sweet-natured grin, and an infectious laugh. His family, friends, teachers, and co-workers knew him to be fun-loving; yet he was also a tender-hearted, sensitive, and kind young gentleman.

Alec will remain a hero in that he gave in death as he gave in life by being an organ donor. Most important of all, he made the decision at a young age to give his life to Jesus Christ, and was baptized in June 2012 at Sunbeam Chapel. This gives his loved ones comfort in the hope that they will be reunited with him again someday.

Alec was preceded in death by great-grandfather James “Jiggs” Wells of Monitor, and great-grandparents, Floyd and Nettie Davis of Wapakoneta, Ohio.

He is survived by his parents, Sarah and Jamie Davis of Bruno; and Andy and Amber Griffin of McConnell; twin brother, Anthony Griffin, and older brother, James Bailey; sisters: Clarissa Hope Davis (Jeff McNeil), India Davis, and Nayeli Davis; nieces Kate Griffin and Lola McNeil; and (soon-to-be-born) nephew Gunner McNeil.

Alec is also survived by maternal great-grandmother, Daley Pack-Wells of Monitor; maternal grandparents Emily and Bob Brodie of North Pointe, Logan, and Keith and Cheryl Davis of Chapmanville; and paternal grandmother Pat Cloud of McConnell.

His uncles and aunts include Cody Wells, Jarrod and Maryjane Davis, Chip Tinder, Caryn Tinder, Josie and Chris Inghram, Alvie and Amanda Griffin, Alfie and Jessica Griffin; and William Dowdy.

In addition to his loving immediate family, Alec will be missed by many cousins and other extended family members, friends, and church family, as well as his beloved co-workers at Morrison’s Drive Inn.

Services will be held at Sunbeam Chapel, on Route 17 at Sunbeam, on Tuesday, May 26th, 2020, at 3:00 pm with Rev. James Fortune officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill, WV. Pallbearers will include his family and friends. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm but please be aware, due to COVID-19 guidelines, the number of people allowed inside the building at any given time will be limited and social distancing will be observed.
