Bobby Joe Shell

Bobby Joe Shell, a retired insurance agent and Army veteran, passed peacefully on Friday, June 30th, 2023. In 2014, he wrote his own obituary; however, in true Shell “father-daughter” fashion, it has been rewritten.

Bobby was a devout member of the First Baptist Church of McConnell where he served as a trustee for many years.

He was preceded in death by his precious son, Brad Scott Shell; his parents, Milton and Peachy Shell, and his siblings.

Those left to cherish his loving memory includes his devoted wife, Brenda; daughter, Brittany Jo Shell (Corey Tucker); Brittany’s daughters, Izabella Elizabeth, and Elena Victoria; son, Marty (Margarita) and their children, Stephanie (Joe) Levesave and Joshua (Danielle) Shell; daughter, Lamar Shell and her son, Owen; his daughter, Rebecca (Kevin) Jenkins; six great-grandchildren; and someone whom he considered as his own son, Steve Savage.

Bobby instilled so much kindness, wisdom, love, and all his humor into his wife, children, and grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Thursday, July 6th, 2023, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel for friends and family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 7th, 2023, at the funeral home with Pastor John E. Godby officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Chapmanville, WV.

Pallbearers will include Jordan Huntley, Chuck Rosser, Chris Rosser, Jack Blankenship, Jonathan Godby, and Christopher McCoy.

2nd Timothy 4:7-8

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteousness judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
