Cora Helen (Hatfield) Compton, 70 of Wharncliffe went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at CAMC. She was born on March 4, 1947 to the late Troy K. Hatfield and Pearl (Trent) Hatfield at Mill Creek, WV. She was a special and faithful member of Wharncliffe Church of God. Those left to cherish her memory include two sons; Jonathan (Whitney) Compton of Wharncliffe and Jeff (Selena) Compton also of Wharncliffe, one daughter; Mindy (Wes) Marsingill of Wharncliffe, ex-husband; Edward Compton of Gilbert , three brothers; Troy Jr. (Aletta) Hatfield of Wharncliffe, Russell (Charlene) Hatfield of Wharncliffe, and Wallace Thomas, four sisters; Sue (Learmon) Mounts of Baisden, Dottie (Ralph) New of Hinton, Glenda (Rutherford) Cline of Baisden, and Bonnie Breeding of Wharncliffe, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild and one granddaughter, Kara Brooke. Services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Wharncliffe Church of God with Pastor Rick Endicott and Rev. Learmon Mounts officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will include Gerald Compton, Kyle Hatfield, Wes Marsingill, Jake Marsingill, Jonathan Compton, and Jeff Compton. Honary pallbearers will include Clifford Cline, Troy Hatfield, Benny Musick, Edward Compton, Dewayne Compton, and Jeffrey Scott Compton. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 6-9 PM with service starting at 7 PM. The family would like to give a special thanks to Pastor Ricky Endicott, Benny Musick, Clifford Cline, Gerald Compton, Bessie Blevins, and Shelia Stevens for their love and compassion. Collins Funeral Home of Switzer is assisting the family with arrangements.
