Daniel James Carper Sr.

Daniel James Carper Sr., 83 of Hamlin, WV departed this life Thursday, October 31st, 2019 at his residence. He was born on June 27th, 1936 in Logan County, WV to the late Andy Carper and Retha (Warren) Carper. He was a retired coal miner and a veteran in the USA Air Force. He loved the West Virginia University Mountaineers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Carper; one daughter, Carol Beth Carper; granddaughter, Erica Danielle Carper; great-grandson, Devin Trent Carper; three sisters, Millie Dingess, Ethel Hatfield, Linda Chase; two brothers, Larry Carper and Andy Carper.

Those left to cherish his loving memory includes one son, Daniel (Karen) Carper; one daughter, Cheryl (Jay) Church; one brother, Sam (Francis) Carper; four sisters, Betty Lyall, Rainelle Browning, Maxine Winters, Lorraine Carroll; two grandchildren, Beau (Alyssa) Church and Jordan Carper; two great-grandchildren, Hailey Carper and Lily Olivia Church; a special friend whom he spent a lot of time with and went everywhere together Denny Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who will all love and miss him.

A funeral service will be held Monday, November 4th, 2019 12:00 pm (noon) at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Denny Collins and Brother Bill Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill, WV. Pallbearers will include family and friends.

A visitation will be held Sunday, November 3rd, 2019 also at the funeral home chapel from 6:00-9:00pm. Collins Funeral Home Inc. of Switzer, WV is honored to be serving Mr. Daniel Carper Sr.’s family.
