Edward "S.J" Silas Easterling Jr.

Edward Silas (S.J.) Easterling Jr. 72 of Logan, WV departed this life on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Logan Regional Medical Center.He was born December 21, 1944 at Sarah Ann, WV to the late Edward Silas and Estelle (Perry) Easterling. S.J. was a former sports writer for Charleston Gazette, Editor of Bristol Herald Courier and a writer for The Logan Banner. He was a member of the baseball team at WVU, He also played football and baseball at Concord University. He played fast pitch softball for Hecks of Charleston and for National Cable Repair in Logan. He won several State Championships and participated in multiple World Series Tournaments. S. J. was baptized at the First Christian Church in Logan,WV. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Nora Curtis Easterling; four sons, Edward Silas (Mary) Easterling III of Chapmanville, WV, Robert Scott Easterling of Charleston, WV, Blake Dean (Tara) Adams of Logan, WV, Garrett Ross (Samantha) Easterling of Logan, WV.  Two Daughters; Kristi Dawn (Jeff) Trout of Hurricane WV and Amber Nicole (Gary) Adams of Logan, WV. One Brother; Charles Easterling of Blairsville, Ga One Sister Priscilla Ann Pritchard of Twinsburg, Oh. Thirteen Grandchildren; Joshua, Lauryn, and Nathan Easterling, Alex and Caden Easterling, and Brooklynn Easterling, Blake II, Madison and Chloe Adams, Tyler and Laikyn Trout, Levi McDaniels and Liam Perry. Services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 at Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger T. Ooten officiating Visitation will be Monday June 12, 2017 from 6 – 9 p.m. at the funeral Home Collins Funeral Home of Switzer is in charge of the arrangements.
