Ernestine A. Hill, 89 of Cora, West Virginia passed into life eternity on Friday, July 21, 2023, in Hinton, West Virginia. She was born March 27, 1934, in Holden, West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. John Gardner and Mr. and Mrs. Eskridge, her husband Mimnaugh Mahagua Hill, Sr, and her sons Hiram Tecumseh Hill and Mimnaugh Mahagua Hill, Jr.
Mrs. Hill was a well-known woman with a loving and gentle spirit. She was a woman of God who was an active member of the St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church. She was also an Eastern Star. She did a host of other things as well. She was the board of director for L.E.A.S.A Ambulance Service, she was the owner of the “Cora Carry Out”, she worked for the department of highways, she worked for Dr. Carter (Dentistry), and she served as a postmaster for thirty-four years and worked at the Cora Post Office for many years.
“She was the strongest woman I’ve ever known. She dearly loved each of us.”
She leaves to mourn, five grandsons, Tony (Carmen) Hill, Mimnaugh M. Hill, III, Christopher Hill, Isaiah Hill, and Hiram Tecumseh Hill ; two granddaughters, Michelle Hill, and Raelina ( Franklin Cantrell) Hill ; seven great grandsons, Anthony, Ian, Colton, Axton, Sylas, Aza, and Damontae ; four great granddaughters, Antonia, Kiana, Angeni, and Jocelyn ; one daughter in law Verna Hill; a dear friend Laura ; the goddaughters Karen and Shero and a host of other family and friends. She will be loved and missed by all whose lives she touched.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, July 27, 2023, at St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church in Cora, WV with Rev. Curtis Calloway officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill, WV.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services.
