Evelyn Jean Ramey

June 17, 1939 — November 4, 2020


Evelyn Jean (Ellis) Ramey, 81, of Wilkinson, WV, went to her Heavenly Home  on Wedneday, November 4, 2020 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center after a brief illness.  She was born on June 17, 1939 in Logan, WV to the late Don and Mercy Blankenship Ellis

In addtion to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Don Ellis JR. and Larry Ellis, and four sisters, Marcella Ellis, Lois Conn, Judy Amidon and Donna Bragg.

Evelyn retired from Logan General Hospital, where she worked for 30 years as the Purchasing Director.  She was a dedicated member of the Mona Hill Memorial FWB Church where she faithfully served for many year and was the President of the Ladies Auxillary.  Evelyn loved crocheting, flowers, shopping and cooking Sunday dinner for her family.

Evelyn’s memory will be cherished and forever kept alive by her loving husband of 64 years, William; two sons, Greg (Carla) Ramey of Wilkinson and Terry (Sandi) Ramey of Justice Addition;  four granddaughters, Jennifer (Ryan) Davis of Wilkinson, Tara Ramey of Justice Addition, Brittany (Brandon) Adkins of Mud Fork, and Ashley (Matt) Plumley of Wilkinson; Great-grandchildren,  Evan, Byrce and Sophi Davis,Braylie and Avery Adkins, and Ian, Hannah, Macy and Paxton Plumley.  She is also survived by two sisters, Sandy (Dutch) Colley of Omar, WV and Tammy (Greg) Adkins of Huddy, KY; nephews, Larry Colley and Greg Ellis; nieces, Mardi Lupton, Misty Williamson and Jaime Jo Finley.  Also left to treasure her memory include her two dogs, Millie and Cindy; a special person who called her “Ma” and was like a third son to her, Craig Sunderland; Jeff Jude, who was like her grandson; her primary care physician, Dr. Nicole Lackey Dillon, whom she loved dearly; and a host of other church family and friends.  She will truly be missed by all those who were blessed to have ever known her.

Evelyn’s wishes were to be cremated with no services.  A private celebration of life dinner for her family will be held at the Mona Hill Memorial FWV Church.  Collins Funeral Home of Switzer, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
