Herbert Lee Baker

Herbert L. Baker 68, of Holden, WV Departed this life Tuesday, November 14, 2017 in CAMC General Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV.  He was born May 09, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan to Clarence Sr. and Annie Jane (Walker) Baker.  He was a ordained minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ in 1988.  He enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling.  Herb was a good-hearted man who loved people, and enjoyed telling jokes.  Herbert graduated Central High School in 1967.  Herbert attended Michigan State University and graduated with a B.S. Degree in 1971 and graduated University of Michigan Medical School in 1975. He was the Founder of Christian Health care, Inc. in Portland, OR.   Dr. Baker sponsored a faith based, free annual community health fair in the 80’s.  The health fair provided free diagnostic testing, dental screenings, medical and financial workshops.  Dr. Baker served on the mission field in Haiti, donated medicine, supplies and equipment and examined and treated hundreds of Haitians with Dr. Willa Grant-Battle’s mission.   Those left to cherish his memories are his loving devoted wife Ann M. (Robinson) Baker of Holden, Three Sons; Michael H. Baker of CA, Eric K. Baker of AZ, David J. Baker Sr. of MI, one Daughter Loren M. Baker of CT, Two Brothers; Clarence L. Baker Jr. and Gregory A. Baker Sr., one Sister Clementine Y. Banks and Nine Grandchildren.   Service to be held at noon, Tuesday November 21, 2017 at the Original Glorious Church of God in Christ at Whitman, WV Bishop Rocine Jackson (Pastor) will be officiating.  Burial will follow in Detroit, Michigan where his Funeral Services will be held with his family and friends.  Collins Funeral Home of Switzer will be overseeing the services here in WV.  Condolences may be left @ www.collinsfuneralhomewv.com
