In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Ira Heath Gibson; brothers, Carson Gibson, and Roger Cameron Gibson; nephew, Brian Gibson; niece, Nicole Stanley; father-in-law, James Sparks; and brother-in-law, James David Sparks.
Irvin enjoyed shooting guns, riding horses, working with wood, and riding his side by side. He was a coal miner for twenty-six years; his nickname in the mines was, “Horse.” He loved his grandchildren more than anything, they were truly his life.
Those left to cherish his loving memory includes the love of his life for forty-two years, Sharon (Sparks) Gibson of Ben Creek, WV; mother, Janice (Stanley) Gibson of Horsepen, WV; two daughters, Shenna (James “Ozzy”) Osborne of Ben Creek, WV and Miranda Cline of Ben Creek, WV; one brother, Audie Stanley of Baisden, WV; one sister, Judith (Jimmy) Hatfield of Baisden, WV; grandchildren, Chaston (Jesalyn) Christian, Shelley Christian, Destiny Stepp, Lindsey Glandon, and Jaeden Osborne; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Jo Ross, Rylea Addison Christian, Renner Hayes Christian, and Grayson Stepp; mother-in-law, Essie Sparks of Highpoint, NC; brother-in-law, Robert (Joanna) Sparks of Cub Creek, WV; sister-in-law, Diane Gibson of Man, WV; god-daughter, Vivian Ball of Ben Creek, WV; niece, Tori Dotson (Anthony Morgan); nephews, Brandon (Jeana) Dotson and Jason Gibson; great-nephew, Kyler Gibson; and a host of other family and friends who will all love and miss him.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 18th, 2023, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lowell Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Alum Cemetery in Glen Alum, WV. Pallbearers will include Chaston Christian, Nick Christian, Ryan Bragg, Chris Adkins, Gregg Ward, Chris Sparks, Ozzy Osborne, and Brandon Dotson. Honorary pallbearers will include David Abbott, Roger Hatfield, Anthony Dotson, Jimmy Hatfield, Audie Stanley, Jason Gibson, Robert Sparks, Pedro Ellis, Anthony Morgan, and Keith Gibson.
Family and friends may gather with the family two hours prior to the service.
He was a well-loved man who will be loved and missed tremendously.
