James Everett Dowdy Jr.

James Everett Dowdy Jr., 65 of Switzer, departed this life Tuesday, January 02, 2018 at his residence.  He was born January 15, 1952 in Robinette, WV to Marion (Gilliam) and the late James Dowdy Sr. He was a retired UPS Driver and a member of the Teamsters Local # 505 of Huntington. In addition to his father one brother; Don Steven Dowdy and a set of infant twins; Parker James and Steven Everett Dowdy precede him in death. Those left to cherish his memories are his Mother, his wife; Patricia “Pat” (Robinson) Dowdy, one son; James Everett (Heidi) Dowdy III of Switzer, two daughters: Melissa (Jeffery) Allred of Switzer and Amber (Kenywan Adkins) Dowdy of Chauncey, one brother Tommy Dowdy of Hickory, NC, five sisters; Susie Frye of TX, Rodie Highwater of FL, Patricia (Paul) Dingess of Chapmanville, Debra (James) Buttrick of FL and Becky (Timmy) Dingess of FL, seven grandchildren; Emily Allred, Cameron Allred, Jaymie Nashae Dowdy, Liam James Dowdy, Kylie Dowdy, Kamaya Dowdy and Kayden Dowdy, one special niece; Valarie (Chris) Dillon, one special nephew; Preston Dillon, two special sister-in-laws; Judy Dowdy of Six Mile and Sheila (Kenny) Fleming of Switzer and a host of nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly.  Service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Victor Dillon as the speaker.  Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service.  Pallbearers will be family and friends.  Collins Funeral Home will be overseeing the arrangements.
