James Edward Sparks

James Edward Sparks 85 of High Point, NC formerly of Thacker, WV departed this life Friday December 5, 2014 in High Point NC. He was born November 15, 1929 in Thacker, WV to the late Missouri (Blackburn) and Robert Sparks Sr. He was a Coal Miner, and a former member of the Church of God. James was a member in the United States Army  and served in the Korean War. James enjoyed playing his gutiar and with his dogs Tia, Fi Fi, and Snuggle Bear. Also preceding him in death is his son; Edward Marshall Sparks, three brothers; Arthur Sparks, Thomas Sparks, and Robert Sparks Jr. three grandchildren; Ira Heath Gibson, Josh Sparks, and Felicia Sparks. Those left to cherish his memories is his loving wife Essie Sparks. Two sons; James David Sparks, and Robert Irvin Sparks; two daughters; Sharon Gibson, and Sheena Osborne; and two sisters; Goldie Dotson, and Mary Lou Dawson. 12 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild  Our family will also like to thank his care-givers; Richard and Jerri Nicholes, Robert and Melissa Nicholes, and Phillip Nicholes. Services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at First Assembly of God in North Matewan with Pastor Lowell Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at The Sparks Family Cemetry  at Glen Alum WV. Visitation will be Tuesday December 9,2014 from 6-9PM at the church. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
