Jimmy "Jimbo" C. Carpenter

Jimmy “Jimbo” C. Carpenter, 77 of Barnabus, WV peacefully entered into the gates of Heaven and was reunited with his wife and those loved ones gone before him on August 8, 2023 at his residence in Cow Creek, WV he was surrounded by his family. He was born on March 6, 1946 in Barnabus, WV to the late Isaac and Plumer (Akers) Carpenter. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Vauntella Sue Carpenter; three brothers, Isaac Carpenter Jr., Julius Roosevelt Carpenter, and Freddie Carpenter; one sister, Mary Ann Carpenter Hunt. 

Jimbo was a retired UMWA Coal Miner at WP Coal Company, and was also a member of the weekend warriors. He loved going to the camp, hunting, fishing, and frying up some fish, baked beans, and taters. He loved taking Chevy for a ride to Crockett Hollow on the side by side, and also hanging out with friends at the cruise-in at Chapmanville, WV in his 1962 Chevy Impala. His laughter, smile, and fishing stories will be forever cherished.

He is survived by two daughters, Vicki-Renee “Doodle Bug” (Mardy) Roberts of Cow Creek, WV who was also his caretaker and Alice Carpenter of Smithfield, VA; four grandsons, Daniel Faine of Cow Creek, WV, Ethan (Aralun Marcum) Miller of Rossmore, WV, Michael Scherer of Smithfield, VA, and Christian Roberts of Chapmanville, WV; two granddaughters, Elizabeth (Richard) Warren of Smithfield, VA, Mackenzie Roberts of Chapmanville, WV; two great-grandsons, Daniel and Brody Warren of Smithfield VA; one brother, Roger Dale Smith of Fort Wayne, IN; one very special friend who was his hunting and fishing buddy who was like a son to him, Shawn Ramme of Wirt County, WV; Linda Gayle Johnson, who was like a daughter to him; and a host of other friends and family not to exclude Cyrus aka Cyfrus.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm Monday, August 14, 2023 at Collins Funeral Home Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 15, 2023 also at the funeral home chapel with Johnny Faine officiating the service. Burial will follow in Cow Creek, WV. Pallbearers will include Mardy Roberts, Manuel “Bugs” Estrathers, Jimmy Adkins, and Shawn Ramme.
