John Cush Ellis Jr.

John Cush Ellis Jr., 86 of Omar went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at CAMC Memorial Division. He was born May 13, 1932 in Earling, WV to the late John Ellis Sr. and Emmer (Grimmett) Ellis. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife; Betty (Staley) Ellis, two brothers; Elmo and Don Ellis and two sisters; Addy Motto and Avy White. He was a retired coal miner and a faithful member at the 20 Whitman Community Church. He was also a veteran. Those left to cherish his loving memories include three sons; Mark Ellis of Omar, WV, David (Wanda) Ellis of Whitman, WV, and John C. Ellis III of Alabama, one brother; Grover (Hilda) Ellis of Switzer, two sisters; Martha Preece of Omar, WV, and Janice Brewer of Mud Fork, WV, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a special friend; Pat Vinson of Whitman, WV.A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 6-9 PM at 20 Whitman Community Church. Funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 25, 2018 also at the church with Pastor Joaquine Ooten officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Godby, WV where he will be carried to his final resting place by his family and friends. Collins Funeral Home of Switzer is assisting the Ellis family with arrangements.
