Jonah O. Elkins, Jr. “Doodle” 64 years old of Danville, WV, formerly of Micco, WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Logan Regional Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on February 3, 1961, in Logan, WV to the late Jonah and Marie (Hughes) Elkins.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald Elkins; two nephews, Brian Gambrel and Timothy Elkins; one niece, Tamera Albright; and three very special friends, Ruben Vanhoose, Johnny Thern, and Ted Hensley.
Jonah was a loving husband and best friend for forty-five years to Norma (Morris) Elkins and a devoted father to Suzanne Starr. He had one grandson, Ashton Blake Starr whom he cherished very much.
He was a devoted Christian and member of New Life Freewill Baptist Church. Jonah had a kind heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was the best husband, father, brother, grandfather, and so much more.
His greatest accomplishments were his love for the Lord, his daughter, and grandson.
Jonah was a disabled Carpenter/Construction Foreman for Logan Planning Mill, Monterra Development/Logan Regional, and Paragon Construction. He loved going to church and worshiping the Lord more than anything. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his son in law, Brian and grandson, Ashton.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Elkins of Danville, WV; daughter, Suzanne (Brian) Starr of Chapmanville, WV; three sisters, Jonetta (Wayne) Barnette of Helenwood, TN, Debra (James) Jeffers of Micco, WV, Diana (Stan) Coffman of Florence, KY; one brother, Jack (Iris) Elkins of Cleveland, NC; sister-in-law, Sue Elkins of Micco, WV; and one grandson, Ashton Blake Starr of Chapmanville, WV.
Friends may call from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Monday, February 24, 2025, at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Switzer, WV.
Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at New Life Freewill Baptist Church in Rossmore, WV with Pastor Alvis Porter, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill, WV.
Pallbearers will include Brian Starr, Timothy Elkins, Jack Elkins, Shawn Jeffers, Eddie Jeffers, Jonathan Gambrel, Jason Elkins, and Aaron Gambrel.
The family would like to thank Dr. Radha, Dr. Marzouk, and a very special, best ever Nurse Practioner, Tiffany Butcher and all the nurses and staff at Logan Regional for their exceptional care.
