Lawson Godfrey

Lawson Godfrey 90, of Douglasville, GA formerly of Omar departed this life Saturday, June 06, 2015 in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH. He was born April 17, 1925 in Livingston, AL.  He was the son of the late William Godfrey and Mary (Curley) Smith. He was an United States Army Veteran.    In addition to his parents he also preceded in death by two brothers; Arthur and Marvin Godfrey, one sister; Dorothy Gun, two sons; Cornelious Godfrey and Clarence Gilliam and one daughter; Diana Patricia Gilliam.  He leaves to cherish his loving wife Lucy Godfrey, six daughters; Toni (Chris) Hairston of Douglasville, GA, Marsha (James) Evans of Cleveland, OH, Rebecca Hamilton of Dayton, OH, Regina Montgomery, Surgery Blunt and Tammy (Walter) Harris all of Columbus, OH, four sons; Lawson Godfrey Jr. and Larry Godfrey of Columbus, OH, Alfred (Angel) Montgomery of Charleston, WV and Earl Pugh of Chillicothe, OH, three sisters; Helen Mitchell, Francis (Earl) Winston both of Dayton, OH and Imagene (Fred) Chancellor of Palo Alto, CA, 29 Grandchildren, 43 Great-Grandchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews, extended family and friends.  Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 12, 2015 at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Murphy officiating.  Burial will follow in Guyan Memorial Gardens at Godby.  Visitation will be held from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M.
