Leona Faye Tackett, 76, of Cow Creek, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2025, peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She was born to the late Georgia (Perry) and Paul E. Balentine on December 4, 1948, in Logan, W.Va. In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-three years, Buford Dale Tackett; one son, Mark (Michelle) Tackett; sisters, Laura Bell (Charles) Spence, Florance (Robert) Addair, Sue Balentine and Rene Balentine; brothers, Rush (Wanda) Balentine, Wilburn (Melba) Balentine, Jeff Balentine, Paul (Polly) Balentine, Dell (Delores) Balentine, and Earl (Joyce) Balentine.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two children, Lisa (Wallace) Meade of Logan, W.Va., Brian (Catherine) Tackett of Obetz, Ohio; Daughter-In-Law, Michelle (Ward) Tackett; ten grandchildren, Justin (Andrea) Tackett, Joshua (Kaylin) Tackett, Tyler Tackett, Cassidy Abshire, Hanna (Alex) Jackson, Natalie (Daniel) Racki, Ryan (Caiti) Tackett, Morgan Ward, Jenna (Tyler) Adkins, and Amanda (Eugene) Mullins; seven great-grandchildren, Kynlie Tackett, Cooper Tackett, Jayce Tackett, Everly Jackson, Isabelle Racki, Alivia Johnson, and Emilee Mullins; and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
Faye was a woman of deep faith whose life was a testament to her unwavering devotion to God and her family. Her greatest accomplishments in life were her three children and relationship with the Lord. She found great joy in being an active member of her church community; she cherished attending services and was especially passionate about singing hymns to the Lord. Her beautiful voice uplifted many during worship, and she always believed that music was a powerful way to praise God and spread His love.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Collins Funeral Home in Switzer, W.Va. with Reverend Barney Goins officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Memory Garden's Mausoleum in Chapmanville, W.Va.
Pallbearers include Justin Tackett, Joshua Tackett, Tyler Tackett, Ryan Tackett, Wallace Meade, Jr., and Tyler Adkins.
A visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Collins Funeral Home, Inc. of Switzer, WV.
