Michael Edward Starghill was born on January 31st, 1949 in Glen Alum, West Virginia to Virginia Starghill and Richard Lee Starghilll Sr. Michael was called home on September 5th, 2016 in Huntington, West Virginia. As a young adult Michael left his comfort zone and moved from West Virginia to Detroit, Michigan via Columbus, OH where he married Joan Jackson, started a family, and began his legacy as a mechanical whiz. Michael worked at Chrysler and the Southeastern Michigan Transportation Authority where he earned his certification as a diesel mechanic. Michael moved to Pikeville, Kentucky where he worked for the Department of Highways and started a new family with Cindy Coats. He and Cindy moved back West Virginia and made a home in Huntington where they lived happily until his passing .Michael received Christ at a very early age and was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Pikeville, KY, he was one to take care of everybody in the church. Michael was an avid fisherman, He loved to entertain and travel. He was a family man, hero, and friend. Loved by many he cared for many, as it was not uncommon for Michael to lend a helping hand to those in need by fixing a car or giving his worldly advice. Michael was the fifth oldest of twelve children. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lee Starghill Sr., nd his brothers, Richard Lafayette Starghill Jr. and Ronald Starghilll and one sister Evelyn Starghilll. Known as dad, son, Michael Edward, Grand pappy, paw-paw Mike, Michael is survived by his life partner Cindy Coats, mother Virginia Starghill, his brothers, Tyrone Foster, Leon (Rose) Starghill, Douglas Starghill, Eric (Brooke) Starghill, Jeff (Marty) Foster, his sisters, Jenelle Starghill, Lennie Glass, Gwen (Jimmy) Milsap, and Virginia (Ginger) Starghill, two children, Jeannine Reese ( and husband Ian Reese) and Michael Colin Starghill ( and wife Tisha Starghill), three step children, John Coats, Julius Coats (and wife Trista Coats), and Jeremy Coats, thirteen grandchildren, Jessica Starghill, Micah Starghill, Maya Starghill, Ian Reese II, Kaitlyn Reese, Kaelyn Coats, Nadia Coats, Jada Coats, Jayce Coats, Naomi Coats, Julius Coats, Korbyn Coats, Everly Coats, one great grandson James Jones, and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at The Word of Life Church @ Mud Fork, with Minister Jimmy Milsap officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior.
