Noah Woodruff, 88, of Omar, died Wed., May 20, 2015. Born Dec. 15, 1926, he was a son of the late Albert and Phoebe Varney Woodruff. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Orpha (Charlie) Hager and Dorothy Meadows; brother, David (Geraldine) Woodruff; one nephew; one nephew-in-law; one great-grandniece, and the love of his life, Sylvia Jobo. Noah was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Philippines, and he worked for the CCC. He retired from U.S. Steel, Lorain, Ohio, and was a faithful member of the Walnut Grove Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include his nephews: Dallas (Brenda) Hager, Ernest (Frankie) Hager, James Hager, Charles (Vivian) Hager, David Jr. (Carolyn) Woodruff, Timothy (Kathy) Woodruff and Rodney Woodruff; nieces: Betty Woodruff Bell, Brenda (Bill) Lesher, Norma Acord, Cathy Hamer (Brian Stevens), Robin (Larry) Bittle; 30 grandnephews; 12 grandnieces; 31 great-grandnephews; 28 great-grandnieces; six great-great-grandnephews; five great-great-grandnieces; step-mother, Ruthie Woodruff; brother-in-law, Therl Meadows; nieces-in-law, Patty Hager Smith and Sherry Woodruff Walls; the closest to having a son, Mark (Pam) Jobo and their two daughters; his fur baby, Kitty; his church family, hundreds of cousins and a host of friends. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sun., May 24, at Walnut Grove Freewill Baptist Church at Chauncey with Rev. Charlie Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Chauncey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at the church. Collins Funeral Home of Switzer is in charge of arrangements .
