Norma Jean George White, aged 69, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 12, 2017 in Chauncey, West Virginia. She was born on August 6, 1948, in Chauncey, to the late Elzie Sr. and Grace Stratton George. Norma worked as a Credit Manager at Commercial Credit, but was remembered fondly by everyone who knew her for her time at Silver Brands Clothing. She was an active, loyal member of the Walnut Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Chauncey, creating the weekly church bulletin and participating in the Ladies Aide group as President for many years. She is preceded in death by her mother and father Elzie (Grace) George Sr., her sisters Gail (Carew) Ferrell and Nancy (Pat) Large, and her brothers Elzie George Jr., Billy George, and Willie (Edna) George. Norma is survived by her son James C. (Tammy) Motes of Logan, WV and daughter Kristi Lynn (Rick) Barlow of Princeton, WV; sisters Nadine McKnight of Chauncey, WV and Janice (Charles) Jordan of Myrtle Beach, SC; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with whom she loved spending as much time as possible; as well as a number of other loving relatives and close friends. The family of Norma White would like to thank all of the wonderful doctors and nurses who cared for her over the years, and would like to extend a special thanks to all those who sent condolences, thoughts, and prayers during this difficult time. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, and will be greatly missed by us all. Arrangements include a private family remembrance service at eleven o’clock on Saturday, November 18, 2017, followed by an open remembrance service at noon prior to the funeral at one o’clock at Collins Funeral Home in Switzer, WV.
