Samuel K. Solomon 85, of Omar, WV moved on to a better home Monday, November 13, 2017 in Cabell Huntington Hospital. “Sammy” was a member of Barnabus Memorial Freewill Baptist Church. He served his country during the Korean War as an MP. After graduation from Logan High School, he attended Cincinnati Mechanical Institute and retired as a machinist. Sammy is preceded in death by his parents; Albert and Etha (Starr) Solomon, two Son-in-Laws; Earl Helton and Donny Hall, a special Uncle; Charlie Solomon and a Sister; Ardith Nazek (William) Dandy. He leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years; Francies, two Son; Keith Gambriel Solomon and his Fiancé Christine Brook of Knoxville, Tennessee and Albert Kamal (Brenda) Solomon of Dahlonega, Georgia, four Daughters; Shirley Helton of Independence, Kentucky, Geneva (Harold) Noe of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, LaTrese Hall of Peach Creek, WV, Brenda (Lester) Pennington of Omar, WV. He was lovingly referred to as “Poppy” by five generations. He shared a special relationship with his great grandson “Elijah Hooker” who served his Poppy as his personal chef. Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Barnabus Memorial Freewill Baptist with Pastor James Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 P.M. Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Church. The Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Collins Funeral Home of Switzer will be overseeing arrangements.
