Tonya Lynn Shell

Tonya Lynn Hileman Shell, 64, of Huntington went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 1st 2024, at Hospice House of Huntington. She was born on May 4th 1960, at Cabell Huntington Hospital and split her childhood between Huntington and Logan County, WV. She was a 1978 graduate of Barboursville High School and earned a Bachelor degree in Nutrition from Marshall University. She went on to work for Valley Health Systems in Huntington for many years as a Nutrionist before moving on to work for the State of West Virginia until health issues forced an early retirement. Being a woman of great Faith, she was a member of Bethel Temple Assembly of God in Huntington. 

Tonya was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Henrietta Hileman of Barboursville, Grandchildren Brayden Shell and baby Shell, her beloved cats Maggie and Izzy and granddog Rosie. 

 She is survived by her children, Jennifer Shell Adkins of Huntington and Jacob Shell and Wife Elizabeth of Troutman, NC, cousin Deb Mayo of Chauncey, WV who was always more like a sister, granddogs Nutmeg, Marlee, Camo and Shine.

The family would like to give special thanks to neighbors Ken and Hazel Kirschenmann and cousin Tammy Nelson for helping with such great care, the team of nurses in the neuro floor at St. Mary’s Medical Center as well as the staff at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House for making her final days comfortable. 

A visitation will take place Friday, July 5th from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a service immediately following at First Baptist Church of Proctorville, OH.

In lieu of flowers, Tonya’s wish was that funds be given to either Little Victories Animal Shelter in Ona, WV or Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Control Shelter in Huntington.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Collins Funeral Home, Inc. of Switzer, WV.
